You should aim to have your tracks peak at +0dB. On the Xone, you adjust your gain until the second light starts lighting up every now and then (at kickdrum hits). The VU meters (the light channel strip as you call it) for track volumes aren't that crucial anyway since you'll always check the volumes in the headphones as well as on the VU meters.

The main VU meter is precise enough to let you visually check the strenght of the signal going out to the amps.

here's a pic of the 32, so you know what i am talking about, it has the same lights.

I think i am getting the Vestax 275

If You will look closely on the Xone:62 you will see it has the cue meter lights just left above the volium fader
and they are the same size

Yes, i know that you could use the 4 light VUs, just have it tripping the red one. and yes, i know the 62 has the same ones, that is why i posted the pic.

trouble is, it's not very precise. i'd rather have a full strip, like for the master volume, or on the pioneer DJM, or basically ANY other mixer out there with these meters.

why would A&H decide not to put full size ones?

one more question, on the Xone:32, can you make it so that the two big VUs above the master are the 2 tracks separated, so you can get them at the same volume with better resolution(like on the pioneer DJM300)? because if you can, it isn't such a big deal.

and yes, i know, you are supposed to do it by ear. sometimes you can't though, and it's nice to have all the tools available.

here is the pic again, just because we are on a new page now.

Dude, i totally agree! For me, acurate individual level metering is very important to create a perfect mix. If i cant see exactly how high each of my individual channels is peaking then when i start to mix i have to do too much correction work. I hate that

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU BUY ANY MIXER WITH THE NAME "NUMARK" ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have used a few Numark mixers, DM-1002x, DM3002X, EM-260, and on all occasions the sound quality from these mixers has been very poor.

Instead, go with the Stanton RM-3 $189.00, or the Stanton RM-3S $279, both of these mixers provide much better sound quality than "Numark" brand mixers.

If you prefer the full strip, get the PCV-275.
You wont regret it.
