i work at a pool during the summer and the town camps come every day to go swimming. its mostly underpriviledged kids, kids with add, kids with working parents, or with other problems. for years we had this one kid mark who had major anger problems. he was like 10 and starting fights over nothing every day, and he hated himself for it.
one of the councilers was a one-on-one with him during the school year, she helped him through things and was there for him 24/7, didn't have a peachy home life as you might expect. anyways, he was actually doing better and in 6th grade and going to graduate into middle school in a few months when all hell broke loose.
the counciler and another one who were pretty much the only people who he'd actualyl talk to and who actually got him moved away after getting awesome job offers, though he still had both of their phone numbers. a few months later, a few months short of graduating he pretty much flipped, threatening to kill himself, and after that and a few other things he was expelled from his school, all the while the only thing he'd say was 'i want to talk to danai and peter' (two councilers)
the school's guidance people were supposed to have their phone numbers, but never called them. we don't know where he is anymore, and the kid everyone thought was a lost cause, who then two great people proved that he wasn't, turned into a lost cause again

heard this from danai (the counciler) a few days back when i ran into her, i've been in a shitty mood ever since, he was a good kid

i always do things that i have a passion in, so think of something that you really want to achieve and do it.
At work we get some of the patients to knit little jumpers, beanies and booties for children that are born in africa because most children who lucky enough to be born in a medical facility go home wrapped in news paper

So i spend most of my free time at work knitting little things for these children, little things like this do make a difference to someone out there.
