no im putting the reserve so that i am not forced to sell my ring for only $5 when that is the lowest bid. I just dont understand how all these other companies dont have reserves for these rings that cost in the thousands. So if my piece does not sell im out $40 for listing it. Ebay does not sound all so great for the prices it cost to list the item.

really depends on your item.

ebay is definitely great for reaching a larger market than say a local classifieds.

have you looked at auctions that are about to close? are they only getting $5 bids? Sometimes a lot of the bidding action occurs in the last 24-48 hours when people rush in to try and get bargains.

yeah some of these auctions only had like 2-3 hours left in them. Oh well if my item does not sell i guess im just out $40.

what about the buy it now prices. If they dont bid up to that price do i have to sell it for the lower price. Thanks for all the help.

If you have a Buy It Now price, as well as a starting bid price, the Buy It Now price will disappear as soon as a bid is placed on your item. You can, however, opt for a Fixed Price listing, which means no bidding at all, you just set the price you want for it and some one will either pay that price, or they won't.
