I agree that most rap that is played over the radio and on MTV and shit went to hell a long time ago, but at the same time you have producers like Blue Sky Black Death and Jedi Mind Tricks who, I think, stay true to the hip hop style and continue to push the envelope.

I didn't say I can't stand any rap. However, you can't deny that MOST rap is pretty terrible, and that the shit that makes the top 40's is almost universally crap. Girl Talk plays that kind of stuff, this isn't an uninformed opinion, and I can't stand THAT rap. And it's not a question of being analytical: it sounds terrible (even if I switch off my brain) and I don't enjoy the types of crowds it usually draws.

Man I promise, she's so self conscious
She has no idea what she's doing in college
That major that she majored in don't make no money
But she won't drop out, her parents will look at her funny
Now, tell me that ain't insecure
The concept of school seems so secure
Sophmore three years aint picked a career
She like fuck it, I'll just stay down here and do hair
Cause that's enough money to buy her a few pairs of new Airs
Cause her baby daddy don't really care
She's so precious with the peer pressure

Couldn't afford a car so she named her daughter Alexus (a Lexus)
She had hair so long that it looked like weave
Then she cut it all off now she look like Eve
And she be dealing with some issues that you can't believe
Single black female addicted to retail and well

Lyrics from Kanye West.

also, to each his own, I guess. Call it a guilty pleasure, then. Maybe he's gone more in that direction recently, too. I haven't heard anything since Night Ripper, and I'll give you the fact that, with each album, his stuff has gotten more & more simplified, with less sampling & craziness, but we shall see.

Even if he just puts a 50 Cent or Rihanna CD in & walks away, the rest of the show will still be awesome.

p.s. fuck Kanye
