Don't use the "sync" button. Use the master/slave button to put the 2 tracks at the same tempo but not to,beatmatch. Place a cue^point on a beat of the track you want to mix in and just start it at the sametime of a beat from the track playing. That's it.
You might have to adjust using the "drift-o-meter" to get it perfect.
Works for me.
