Just curious, and not to change the topic, but do you NEED a phono preamp and audio interface to rip vinyl??? I meen i've been just using my booth out to my soundcards in on my lappy into Adobe Audition and it's been sounding pretty damn good for what it is.

I know there has to be some sort of drawback in quality or the eq's changing something, i dunno but I'm curious as to what someone said earlier about needing that gear.

if you are moving from LA to riverside, keep the gun, but put on a Panic@the Disco shirt. If you ever get caught without your shirt, your gonna need that gun

well in this case you are using your mixer's phono preamp, and your soundcard instead of an interface. so no.

as to my first post, as long as he doesnt touch the record or the platter while its playing, and the ion is kept on a level surface, the wow and flutter should be minimal. I am a firm believer in direct drive and techs above all, but you dont need a 1200 to import.

Yeah you don't NEED a phono pre-amp, it's just a cleaner signal path for ripping vinyl.
