-Supposedly, since HDMI is a digital technology, instead of analog (like component or composite), nearly all HDMI cables will be the same, whether they are $20 ones or $80+ Monster ones.

The only time its worth it paying for 'better' HDMI cables is when the distance is over 10 feet. That is when the cable quality actually comes into play because the signal breaks down over a longer distance. With short cables, 6 feet standard, doesn't matter, just find the cheapest one you can thats not falling apart.
LCD is better for gaming, Plasma is better for movies.
