On the subject on the pills you plan to chow at AvB, alot depends on the type of pill (as mentioned above), how your serotonin levels are (considering you only ever had pills once, I'd reckon them to be pretty darn good) and how you handle your comedowns (your serotonin levels affect this).
If you found that you very very depressed/irritable/moody just after your last pills, chances are that your rate of serotonin reproduction is normal (If you took a fair amount of pills) or low (If you took a little). Things to help boost serotonin levels would be:
Banana's
Marmite (If you have that where-ever you are)
Honey
Cinnamon
And to a lesser extent, high-carbohydrate foods (pasta)
Eating these things prior and post should make things easier.
(And eating them regulary, especially a few days before a party and in large amounts, but not too large, can help you to stay more f*cked and for longer with much less after effects)
I find that hallucanagenics are the only real worry if you are in a worried state, pills are generally ok.
If you want to make sure that your serotonin levels stay in tip-top shape, see if you can find some 5-HTP, sold in chemists in some countries. It's basically serotonin in a capsule. 
Hope this helps you (and it probably makes me look like a druggie, but I figure that, if I'm gonna put sh*t in my body, I best make up for it in other ways)

PS. Sleepy-pills are good short-term solution, but one can easily become dependant on them.
