Thats cool if you only want to mix tracks b2b.

I run 4 channels in ableton +2 returns and I'm planning on using 6 once I get a new soundcard

really good for beginners even better for pros. i've had one in my studio along with a bunch of other m-audio boards and can say the ONLY thing this is missing is light up drum pads.

You should just get a JazzMutant Lemur

Nah You should definately check out that M-Audio, that everyone has been recommending they make great products at affordable prices.

actually you can run as many channels as you want, you just use the cueing functions in ableton to monitor between them. couple this with a good midi controller and voila, you're set.
on another note m-audio products are especially good for live because they're configured to work directly with the software and usually have presets and don't need additional setup. but i still haven't figured out how to use all the features on my axiom so i can still get pretty confusing

is four even necessary?

I just use a simple two stereo out setup through an m-audio quattro 4in/4out usb sound box.. no returns. though I wonder what I can do with them at times though. give me tips.

last time I saw gabriel and dresden I realized our setups are very similar. just the effects setups are a bit different and they use an m-audi firewire sound box while mine is usb.

I don't trust laptop sound card quality. tested some at work compared to the quattro i thought the analog sound cards weren't as clear. a tad muffled. when I hear analog sound cards used in dj setups at clubs, it seems the sound quality is a bit murky compared to how I think it should sound.

I really need to record a new mix using a mixer with ableton. I haven't had a chance to play with ableton for at least a month with me having so much work and moving. this means my tracks are getting old! but I'm super comfý and confident with it finally. yay! everone who heard my last mix (which wasn't shared publically) pretty much only had good thíngs to say about it despite some major issues I know are in there. .

Looking to update my mixer but I need a midi controller too

Let me know what you think of this or if you know anything more beyond the Korg page / google searches

http://www.korg.com/gear/prod_info....8&category_id=2

it's either this or I go with an allen & heath plus a midi controller
