Anyone have any thoughts on Behringer?? Their mixers are pretty cheap and seem to have quite a few features.

Why don't you save some more cash and buy yourself something good that will last you longer than some cheap mixer?

Seems like a reasonable suggestion

However, I have been saving money for a while as I'm planning on building a new pc so I set a target of £600 to cover processor, motherboard, ram, graphics as well as the mixer. I suppose I could delay the mixer but i'm just impatient. Ideally, i'd like a DJM600 but realistically that ain't going to happen as mixing has taken a bit of a back seat over the past 5 years since I started a family so a good budget is the more likely target for me.

You don't need to buy the best right away.

Mixers have a great resale value. Chances are if you buy a used one you can resell it a year later for probably the same price u paid for it.

I used a Gemini mixer for 4 years, and it did me well. It of course can't compare to the mixers I got later, but for the price it was great. I don't know why people are so against Gemini...

Behringer, however, is total crap other than a few products. I would steer away from them entirely.

If I were going to buy a cheap mixer knowing what I know now I'd probably go for a vestax if I wanted a solid mixer with great sound quality or if I were more interested in some fun effects and just playing in the "bedroom" it'd be a numark dxm06 as you sacrifice some durability and sound quality but you get more features.

However, if you really like a certain Gemini...go for it.

Vestax are pretty solid mixers. No effects but they feel good. I have never used gemini so I can't comment on what people are saying. Vestax will also have a good resale value if you decide to sell and upgrade.

when i first started i used a two channel american dj mixer that worked out fine for a few years. its now collecting dust next to my rane, but hey it did its job.

at your budget i would stay away from anything that has effects or extras that take away from the workings of the mixer...behringer in particular.

Effects should never be the primary consideration when purchasing a mixer.

Of course, I come from the school of minimal usage of effects in a set, so what do I know?

i would go for a nice used djm 500, the effects are stupid and pretty much worthless but the faders and eq's have a very nice feel plus you get four chanels, its a very solid mixer and you can find them for cheap on ebay
