LOL, who throws "parties" anyway. Where I come from... and I'm not even sure where that is anymore... we have "get-togethers", no more than 20 friends, or friends of friends, just chilling and hanging out. Conversation, wine, and light drug use a must. Of course some mild entertainment like lounge-house (I prefer OM records and anything they have to offer for this type of situation).
If we're going to actually "party...!" we hit up a club and get wrecked. Yes it's a bit more pricy but the headache you save from not having to clean up/be robbed/toss random people out of your house is worth it. |
it's a whole catch-22 when you're a DJ. all of my friends i threw parties with spun as well, so we both wanted an exclusive and nice party to have fun at, but a big enough crowd to dance and make noise when we were spinning on point. you can never really get a "party" going with just 20 people.
problem is, the place to be was always my house. i have the only party-viable place. after i said a big FUCK YOU to throwing any more parties, just no more get thrown. some people still call me up and beg me to throw another one "for old times sake" (i did a couple of crazy ass parties), but fuck that, i'm not putting myself out for other people any more. i've had way too much of that already.

i threw a huge bash this weekend for me and 70 of my best mates. rented out a campground, rented a pickup truck (mainly to do doughnuts in the field) bought 4 kegs, 100L of hard liquor (one of my friends went to the hospital friday night with rediculous alcohol poisoning (he is retarded) he managed to drink almost 3/4 of a texas mickey of jack daniels by himself, had a BAC of 0.86 (thats0.07 off of the record according to the Surete du quebec (quebec provincial police)) ambulance came to pick him up, he woke up the next mornign removed his own catheter, almost got in a fist fight with doctors who didnt want him to leave, and took a 60$ cab ride back up to the campground to start drinking again.... i pointed out that he had still not removed the heart monitor stickers at 6 oclock that ;night.... he hadnt noticed them yet.)
what else happened. I was spinning drum n bass / breaks for a while in the afternoon on saturday then my buddy came up with this great idea that i had to eat a pickled egg and do a shot of jagger between mixes..... i got pretty fucked up..... then dared my buddy to do a shot of the pickeld egg juice.... he did it..... and from what he tells me it wasnt delicious at all.,....
i dont remember much from sat night.... but from what i have been told i had a great time. best part about it. we made a huge mess, and i didnt care becaue it wasnt at my house. we did our best to pick up the trash in themorning and cover the tire ruts caused by the ambulance and my truck donughts.... then i drove back to ottawa, dropped off the empty kegs, and returned the retal truck with no less than a half inch of mud coating on all surfaces....
all in all
awesome weekend that cost me a net of 34 dollars!

Yeah, I’d like to know what horrible, scarring incident in your childhood turned you into such an ignorant, intellectual-hating philistine? |

Another point - I guess it comes with age. In college we used to throw massive parties with kegs/etc. Being out of school and having "nice" IKEA crap around instead of the "grandma hand-me down" furniture, also living in a pleasant neighborhood, not a college apartment complex where everyone's my age - really changes things.
Certainly a bit over a year ago a huge party at "Club Russia", as my apartment was known, was not a problem. In fact it'd be surprising to NOT have 50 or more people being loud and getting wasted. BUT!!!!!!! - we had to go through 3 different couches (tagged by pissers), had to build another bar (1st one got destroyed by combination of girls dancing on top & fights), carpet had to be completely re-done summer after junior year, 3 windows had to be replaced, daily beer-can/cigarette butts collections, bathroom a mess (thongs and condoms all over the place besides the piss/etc. on floor)... fuck I could go on forever.
I mean yeah it was a blast, but that's not for me anymore.
OHH OHH - Let's not mention the numerous times beer/liquids/drunk chicks collided with my equipment. I had to replace one of my CDJ-1000's, twice for my laptop keyboard, junior year my laptop got stolen (thankfully I was going to replace it anyway, the thing was 2 years old and it gave me an excuse to beg for one from my parents).
