I would very much doubt this, if not the opposite. Most of the top 40 clubs attract the big names and therefore it is imperative to show them off as the star of the night.

Amnesia being one off the top of my head..

I really hate the elevated, separated booths (like in small venues for concerts). I've only come across a couple that have been completely tucked away, and it was alright, but I much prefer the ones that're almost at floor level. It's sort of a middle ground between the two, and it's the only one that allows anybody to walk up & get a look at what's actually going on if they want to. That has its benefits and downsides, though, particularly depending on the crowd & the dj.

I prefer small underground clubs (literally underground, I'm talking in some basement somewhere) where the DJ is in front and on ground level, and the crowd is right there next to the decks. Of course it's all about the music, but a visible DJ adds more character to the night. Who's doing the selecting I couldn't care less about.

I've played in that booth a number of times, and though it's nice to get up in a big room like that - it really does create this feeling of "I'm up here, they're out there - are we necessarily even partying together?"

There are actually three other rooms in Vision that I think I prefer over that one, this one is probably my favorite booth to play in because it's right in the middle of the dancefloor:

lol @ the guy in the light blue button-down shirt playing 'Simon Says'

also, that's why I said it also depends on the dj. if you throw armin in the loft, people will say the show sucked.

I don't care as long as the guy playing records isn't worshipped like at an Armin or Tiesto night.

Dj worship is a terrible, terrible thing...

Yeah, the placement of the booth doesn't really matter.

What matters is why people go there.

placement affects that, though. It's pretty hard to have a scene like this:

if the booth is on the floor.

Or if organizers put a catwalk going out into the crowd for the DJ's ego to be caressed by the masses.

was there a band playing before him, or can we just chalk that up as one of the more hilarious setups of all time?

It was billed as an "ARMIN ONLY" night. He played the whole time, with Rank 1 and some vocalists doing live stuff for a bit in the middle.

I can only assume that the catwalk was his idea.
