By the way, you might want to consider sticking around for Reason 4. You can always rewire it with Ableton if you decide to go with it.

Why not?

Pro Tools isn't that bad for EDM. Sure, sequencers like Logic/Cubase/Live may dominate the scene, but it's still a powerful EDM sequencer. Don't knock it 'til you try it. It just lacks some of the super nit-picky MIDI editing features since it was predominantly designed for multi-tracking audio. I wouldn't doubt it having as many features for MIDI editing in a year or 2.

My guess is that if you are looking at Reason like it is only 3 synths, that is why you aren't getting the pro sound. I don't mean that in a deragatory way, just that there is so much more to Reason and SO many more things you can do with it than use the few synths... the Vocoder, Scream, NNXT sampler, ReDrum, scores of effects, and a thousand ways to wire it (and more stuff)... there are more than enough ways to get a pro sound out of it. BT uses ReDrum for beats... it is the user, not the program. An example on the other end of the spectrum is me... I have Ableton AND Reason and still don't get a pro sound. But it's cause I ain't pro...

EDIT: Not to say rewiring to another program doesn't offer some additional things... I just mean that more than enough people get pro sounds from Reason alone...

thanks alot for the help .. now i understand the wireing is everything.. i juss spend a couple days playing around witht the wire.. and the rack gets fucking huge and im acually getting really close to the quality i was talking about.. i kept looking at reason as a beginers program but now that i play around.. this shit is awsome ..

Good to hear.

When you're using Reason, routing really is everything if you want to get fuller sounds. So many different ways to connect and modulate synths and effects. Have fun exploring.

As stated before, Pro Tools, is not something for the beginner, plus if you want to get the best from Pro Tools you will have to buy the hardware bundled, take it easy, Ableton is a nice piece of software, and you dont need extra hardware to get it to work great like Pro Tools, besides a midi controller with some knobs.

Kopi =o.

Worst thing to have in music is an ego.

One will never know every aspect of music and music production--it's just impossible...
