My thing is, although im not really into his tracks, the guy is awful with his mixing most of the time...he has still managed to become the most powerful DJ in EDM...so he gets props for that and that alone.
I think i just mentioned in the Sports Arena thread a couple days ago that the only place id see the guy is in TJ again or in the streets of LA...
so Im thinking of NYE arrangements...

Actually, I think with the older, actually somewhat simpler music of the late 90s and early 2000s (and I'll admin, mostly better music) his mixing was fine.
When you hear him mix a string of clsasic tracks, the mixing is fine. other than one horrific mix here in a couple weeks ago (it was beat-matched, but just was a bad phrase match) his mixing was actually dead on point just about the whole night and pretty damn good. Then again, the rules were set for ZERO distractions. No people talking to him (other than his own peeps), no photographers, no babes, no nothing.
In the end, when he wants to Tiesto can mix. Don't let him or his last few years full you. But I think either their hearing just goes whack or they just don't want to concentrate most of the time.
I hope something else big happens on the west coast. Cause between Tiesto and TAO, all it means is that it's gonna weed out the fake peeps. ANd you can pretty much guarantee any other west coast party is gonna have a genuine vibe, whether here or LA;.

I recognize that the big names like Tiesto can draw out some mainstreamers, but your bifurcation of "genuine" and "fake" people sounds horribly pretentious.
