We obviously don't get them in Wisconsin - so I have no idea what they're like, but I imagine the big ones are pretty fucking creepy. My roommate had lived in Hawaii for 6 months and they had a pretty large one while she was there (though it was the "norm" for many on the island), and just the way she described it sounded so eerie. |
I've experienced two good-sized earthquakes, but nothing as big as that. What was nuts about the second one I was in was that you could literally see the ground ripple; think of a Looney Tunes episode when they show Bugs Bunny running around underground just pushing a mound of dirt around, then visualize a LOT of those little ripple things going the same direction. Absolutely nuts.
They say Seattle is supposed to have "the big one" eventually, but nobody knows when. Yay for living on the ring of fire!
