Absolutely true. It still eludes me as to why people think FL Studio isn't quality.

well, it's not that i don't think FL isn't quality stuff...it's just that i've always thought in order to be a credible dj you needed to have the turntables and such...

Oh I misunderstood. Just that it rings a bell when people say Fl studio isn't enough for them.

Fruity Loops has a reputation of being cheap or cheesy, but really it's a great piece, especially for MIDI/VST use, it's main purpose.

Not my preference, but that's more of personal preference than any shortcoming of the program.

Learning curve is less than most the comparable programs, too.. always a plus!

There is a difference between producing and DJ'ing. FL isn't for DJ'ing.

The reason why so many think FL is not a serious music making tool is probably because it looks like a kid's toy. Also the name "fruity loops", cant get any shittier.

FLSTUDIO can make great stuff. Anyone who tells you something else needs to get wtfpunched in the face!

Only con I have with FLSTUDIO is that I sometimes have way too many windows in the screen, and it feels awkward to work with .wav files but just because it's awkward doesn't mean you can't work with them. I can still work with .wav file loops but i'm much more comfortable with ableton.

and to add to the list of producers who use it: Kanye West

I found that ableton is easier to use then FL, but overall process is very similar.

Ok but Fruityloops is rather a Ford than a Lotus

anyway, check out the demos of fruity and reason as both programs offer everything to produce a complete track.

i dont see the differnce (unless u are a geek) between FL and cubase reason etc. all they do is plot all the elements of your track in the right place. its more the plugins and vsts u install that make the difference. its up to u to make it sound good.

for instance if say pvd learned FL, with his experience, when he is comfortable with FL, i dont imagine his tunes (on FL) sounding any differnt to his previous tunes.

even is FL was only a ford, put a racing legend behind the wheel and he will rip apart an unexperienced lotus driver.

and lotus was a shit example.. a lot of fords would 'have' a lotus

the lotus thing was a bit of a tenuous analogy, but apart from the gt40 and cosworth (which frankly will have just about anything) I can't think of another ford that would have a lotus. (off topic I know...)

I am toying with the idea of switching to FL, as even though I do like cubase/nuendo and it lets me do everything I need, I find it doesn't lend itself well to a fast workflow - everyhting seems to take a long time and many people keep saying FL is so fast to work in.
