thanks for that information inconspicuous! i learn something new everyday...
as far as the lemur is concerned its got a growing community (soon to be including myself ) the layout hasnt been changed at all recently but you can see all the details at www.jazzmutant.com . they release Dexter fairly recently following the 1.6 firmware update but that's pretty much it. apparently they've dissolved Jazzmutant as an independant body and is now the musical subsidiary of a multi-touch technology corporation. At siggraph they had a presence recently and are supposed to make some sort of anouncement soon. Also an up-and-coming update will bring dual-boot functionality to the hardware allowing both Lemur and Dexter systems to operate in the same hardware.
Cheers.

Daedelus built his "light box" on his own. It's a one-of-a-kind custom job. The Monome was then designed by a couple other guys, based on that concept. He still uses his giant wooden thing, though.
Daedelus's is 16x16, in 16 4x4 groupings. The original monome is 8x8, but you could link a few of them together. They're making new ones, though:
the main difference, aside from the size of the actual buttons (daedelus's are each a little bigger than the eraser on a pencil & round, the monome's are a only a bit smaller than those on most drum machines & square), is the added functionality of the monome, where the 'light box' is just a fancy sequencer.
Does anybody know anything more about those Lemurs, though? I haven't seen or heard anything about any revisions to it, and that's clearly not the layout of the original. |
