Unfortunately that is the case Wookie. Why do u think that so many americans in particular love Oakie..and credit him for bringing them into the trance scene?? Because of his commercialism....I still think he's great.. not the greatest...but he has made it mainstream somewhat. This is the case with americans.... everything for them is commercialized. If it isn't....it won't make it. Same went for Hip Hop, Punk, Rock'n'Roll, blues, jazz, "RAVES"...virtually anything u can think of... american's have commercialized and made manistream.
Damn bloody yanks.
The worst moment in trance for me was the creation of EuroTrance. They should've kept that shitty EuroDance shit separate from Trance forever, becuase now there are actually soooo many shitty vocals over amazing beats...I'm convinced and focred to like them. |
well i think that oakey is popular in the U.S. just because of word of mouth...everyone thinks he is the only dj in the world sometimes just becuase hes the only one who has enough money to advertise so massively in the U.S. and tour so often. And amazon.com and cdnow.com do a good job of advertising his perfecto cds on there sites. Alot of people i know go "hey have you ever heard voyage into trance by paul oakenfold"...its an old cd, not really trance, more goa, but they dont know that and just associate out of date references with oakenfold...Oakey is fucking awesome now, i dont know what happened but his mixing skills are finally back. He is one of the best djs if not the best dj in the world due to his ability to spin almost every genre of electronic music from breaks to goa. hes quite an amazing producer as well and i have a lot of respect for his works on perfecto too.
