going to happen soon than you think.
and governments around the world are slowly making efforts to force car makers to clean up their act, but with the number of gas fueled cars in the world, you can't just change over night. it takes time.

considering all the major grocery stores are now selling reusable bags for a reasonable price ( about a buck each, with a wear and tear warranty) a ban may not be necessary for a decline to occur in plastic bag usage :P

I say sure, why not? Next we should ban living as that is also bad for the environment.

Seriously whats the point of being an adult anymore? All it means is that mommy government takes over from mommy.

Does this really irk you????
OR
are you trying to provoke further debate about what governments should and shouldn't be able to legislate. (I do enjoy these)

Plastic bags do not decompose (and I can't recall seeing anyone recycle plastic bags). What is wrong with trying to decrease the frequency it which they are used. SERIOUSLY.

How does legislation inspired by the eco-friendly movement bother you ?

"patiently waiting for you to explain to me how this is about 'control and revenue'.

Now in regards to you mommy government comments

You are assuming everyone HAS a mommy.
OR that ALL mommy's are capable and considerate.

Things like this are necessary. Okay, we are not all dumb, but some of us are. Furthermore NOT all intelligent people are considerate. If it takes a few laws to enforce the minority of the population that is either ignorant or selfish (assuming it is a minority) to take a small effort in the conservation of our planet, then so be it.

I exagerated.
I shop at no frills for everything but meat/produce. They don't even have plastic bags so most folks bring their own.

But I'm optimistic in a few years my comment will be more accurate.

I see nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately we're a society of idiots who don't seem to fully understand how we're fucking up our planet. If we don't change our ways we're all going to be fucked... we've already shown that we can't do it on our own, so if a few changes need to be forced on us, so be it.

I agree... People have a variety of alternatives, like: those re-usable $1/piece bags, cloth bags, cardboard boxes that will be recycled afterwards, baskets... etc. We should strive to protect our environment.

You can buy it for 5 cents a piece... same with Price Chopper and other discount grocery stores.

The discussed ban is retarded in my household. Every grocery bag gets recycled as an under-sink garbage bag.

Without my recycling my grocery bags like this, I'll have to buy glad kitchen-catchers.

It's moving one problem from one pile over to another.
