Well its true. many of the kick drums are sample from other persons music. It is very obvious. The worst is Essential House. Nearly most of the loops are sampled straight from peoples records without even any further processing. E.g. Eric Prydz - Woz Not Woz, Stonebridge, Axwell etc. Blatent rips!

It's just like sampling. Comming practice in the music industry. And tolerated in most cases.

Actually it is sampling. The difference is artists try to sell uncleared material through their music. With VEC it's sold as a sample.

Both are making money of another mans material. In other words, so few worry about sampling, why is this such a big deal all of a sudden?

It's up to you what to do with the samples anyway. If you use them well you can turn those loops around to something very different.

So why is it that the tracks i am refering to are much older (sometimes years) than the vengeance cds? It is obvious that most loops on those cds are ripped straight from other peoples productions. I have Essential house and can provide audio samples against the original tracks if you wish? many of the single hit and cutted sounds are ripped straight from other peoples music as well. From artists such as daft punk etc. It is very obvious by the presence of other instrumentation and the sudden cutoff of the reverb tail as somebody else already mentioned.

I agree that some sampling is tolerated by artists. Especially when talking about single hit kick drums etc. When it comes to loops etc, it can become more serious. If Vengeance sounds distributer found out about it, they could be in trouble, maybe even taken to court over the matter.

I don't believe for a second that the samples are ripped. Vengeance are quite a high profile source of trance sounds, I'm sure many top producers have heard the samples. It would be an unbelievably easy way for one of these producers to get a large chunk of money - "hey, there's a sample which is 100% easily identifiable as mine". I just can't believe that not a single one of these "ripped-off" producers wants a big chunk of easy money.

I haven't heard any synth samples mixed in with the percussion sounds ( let me know which samples contain these very obvious synth sounds and I'll have a listen and happily admit that yes, it seems very dodgy )

As far as reverb tails being chopped off - obviously you're not talking about the gated kicks and claps, etc, which are supposed to be extremely chopped off - I assume you mean kicks with much shorter apparent reverb times where the full decay portion is chopped? I haven't listened in that much detail to every kick ( they sound fine in a song )but potentially it's so you can grab the samples and drop them into place on an audio track at a typical trance tempo without having the tail of one kick overlap with the start of the next kick? I do appreciate that about them, that the vast majority don't overlap.

But all of that doesn't really matter - the artists who use these samples won't be held personally liable ( unless they haven't actually paid Vengeance for them, on the pure assumption that they weren't Vengeance's to sell! Good luck in court! ). Some people absolutely hate the samples, think they're the worst samples on the planet. Some people absolutely love the samples, think they're absolutely fantastic. Some people like red, some people like blue. Doesn't matter in terms of your personal choice. Great tracks are made without these samples, great tracks are made with them. Download demos of your choices and choose!

ok... had another listen on the vengaence samples...

you might be right, some of them sound sampled

but whooo cares... at least its all oneshots and its still up to you to rearange those single sounds to get one unique loop.

also i considered to produce some samples on my on via synthesis...
but even then i cant be sure its unique cause someone else might be using the same synth a might tweak a very similiar bassdrum with it...

after all i think the vengaence is still an awesome sample bank with essentials like the name says

also i always find threads in here with names like 'how does this or that guy make that bassline' or 'how can i produce da beat like push does?'

most guys here are hardly inspired by (or copying) someone other and in most cases sampling from someone other.

so stop acting as you where the inventors of something new, hypocrites

btw... look at my avatar... then you can see im not amused
