i think its normal. i can do a "click" inside my ear when I want to (just sort of flex my inner ear muscle )i think its just a result of some tissue moving around.. no problems with my hearing.. yet..

My Numark DXM06 has that, and its fairly cheap, although its only 2 channel - £170 (around $320), probably cheaper in america.

Use the cue/master knob for the headphones...this is on some even very cheap mixers. My first mixer was a gemini that I bought for $40 (retailed for $100), and it had it.

One of my roommates never had one ear out of the headphones...he always mixed this way. He had hearing in both ears, but that doesn't matter when you're djing like that.

EDIT: This is not to say that all mixers have it, because that's not the case. You have to look for it, but it is on most, and price has nothing to do with it.

I have a -50db hearing loss in one of my ears so it's pretty much deaf unless I crank the volume in my headphones to ridiculous levels. Putting the headphones on halfway over my good ear like you mentioned does work for me.

I recently got a hearing aid that has helped immensely but as expected, there's a slight delay in processing the sound so I have to retrain my hearing all over again.

I'm 40% deaf in my left ear due to too many years of going out when earplugs were a non existant option . It doesnt really have anny effect on my beatmatching ( i realy need to watch my hi's, as i can lose them at times, but this is where the hi lo pass is a very good friend esp for a tribaly track per say). The biggest problem it causes for me, is making the mastering process quite a pain in the ass when producing. It's all a little longer than it has to be, but when comes time to eq all the highs it gets really hard(once again they sometimes bleed away). I'm getting a few tip sessions from someone who has the same problem as me, and if it can even save me 25%(at least) that i spend making sure the levels are good I will be the happiest not listening to hi hats for 5 hours straight guy on earth.

almost there! i have hearing loss with constant buzzing in my right ear thanks to spinning and my ignorrance!

i now use those musician earplugs for the last couple years they work good

the hearing in my left ear isn't as good as my right, down to years of violin playing...wouldn't have thought it made a difference but as your left ear is literally right on top of the f-hole and the bridge, it gets the brunt of it.

to make matters worse, i'm used to cueing music with my left ear as well.

it's not too bad though, but hopefully it won't get worse.

i'll second the odd symptom of hearing noise over speech...i have a very hard time picking out lyrics in songs...all i hear is the melodic pitch.

I know I am harming my ears, but I love loud music. Summet about rewinding your fav track just befor the bass kicks in and cranking it suiper loud and feeling the energy rush in. I love it.

Me too.

After hearing a song only once or twice I could play the vocal part on a keyboard...I know all the rhythms and pitches by then. However, I still would have no clue what the song is talking about until maybe my 100th listen.
