I'm also happy to say that Digweed was all I needed to party last night. I got off work, showered, did a line (lol) and hit Avalon...I didn't even drink

The first hour and a half of Digweed was pretty much all tracks me and bas play. EVERY track either he had or I had, it was pretty funny. Digweed was dropping great tracks, but early on his set lacked the cohesion of his better sets. It felt like really good tracks mixed together well, but the continuity Digweed is famous for was lacking somewhat. Around 2:45 (I remember looking at the time specifically) he dropped a MONSTER, and the later it got the more he seemed to find grooves to play in.

Tigo and I left around 5:45 as my legs had pretty much turned to jello by then, desptie Digweed just dropping bigger and bigger tracks (mostly unknowns)

Kazell played a nice opening set, incl. many tracks I've been playing recently.

Spots from Kazell:

Rocha & Lewinger - Miles Davis
Remy & Roland - Mexico Can Wait (Peter Horrevorts Remix)
Nikola Gala - On Bended Knee
some remix of Habersham - Gently Shifting People

Digweed:

Underworld - Crocodile
Guy J - Agent Blue (Rodamaal Remix)
Simon Baker - Confused (David K Remix) <--- siiiiick hearing it at avalon!)
Argy - Malena
Tiger Stripes - Hooked
Motivi.Tuntematon - I Don't Feel Good (When You're Not Around)
Siobahn Donaghy - Don't Give It Up (Carl Craig Dub)
Solomon - Jungle River Cruise

Gel Abril - Very Wrong (Chaim Remix)
C.O.M.A. - Monday

Bas should get some more, and I'm forgetting a few...

I wish I had enough energy to stay till the end, as Digweed was getting NASTY around 5. Good night all in all despite the fucking horrible crowd. So many assholes. I stepped on a guy's foot and apologized and he was so surprised he said "dude you're the first person who has had some sort of courtesey all night" Some of those asian folk have absolutely NO CONCEPT of that. Like the old guy with 20ft of space in front of him who decides it's more fun to grind his ass into you and elbow your ribs. Fucking ridiculous. I yelled at some guy for that, and he seemed to not understand anything I said. Also gotta love the short asian women who just punch through you without even saying excuse me.

Avalon has a LONG way to go to fix its crowd...

i think the reason digweed is so good is that he seems very focused, he doesn't look up, doesn't wave, doesn't really interact with the crowd, no stupid jesus poses.....just focused on his set and the mixing and does a great job.

i agree, hearing simon baker-confused (david k remix) was insane at avalon.....that track has such a fat bassline with those creepy vocal moans. seriously insane. also argy-malena was an awesome track to listen to live. seriously its like most of his track reach out and touch you deep inside in some way.

i like the way he uses effects in his set also, it adds a lot to a set like this.

hopefully he'll play at vanguard again soon, even if he doesn't play a 6 hour set, at least its better than avalon imo. seriously avalon has waaayyyy too many cracked out asians. they didn't even search people who came in.

I'd also like to say kudos to Avalon for the new set up. Looks and feels much better. No big fat lame stage with tons of 'vip', just the booth and the dark

Diggers records all his stuff...good luck getting it though

The only way it gets out is if it's on his radio show...or someone steals it...or when he sends it to me personally because we're best friends
