it's funny that you are looking at these phones. I am also looking... and this is what I came across.

Look into the HTC phones...

HTC Excalibur / Dash / S620
reviews = http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/us....php?phone=1041

HTC / Touch

HTC Mogul

note: the curv is the widest you can go and still feel comfortable for one handed texting.

Yeah, the phone that just died is the HTC 8125 and I was thinking of maybe upgrading to the HTC 8525 because they made some improvements.

But it was $50-100 more than the 2 BlackBerrys I was looking at so thats why I'm unsure which direction to go.

The 8525 is currently 199.99, but headed into End of Life status. Soon to be replaced by the 8925

which I think will actually be a great phone.

the smart phones now only had (at best) 128 meg for it's processor, and I think that the new one has over 400. Thus making it a million times better

in other news... why the heck are the smart phones not doing what the Ocean does yet? The only reason I do not buy a smaret phone is because of the tough dial/text messageing on the phone while driving... The Ocean fixes this, however it is only for the worlds worst network.

maybe i should say fuck it and get the best phone out there, the iphone.

the keyboard may not be as fast as an external one but thats fine with me, getting over the price will be the hard part.

the iphone nano looks interesting but may be too small and i dont want to wait months for it either...

We're releasing the Pantech Duo this month that is a dual slider like the Ocean.

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2007...180-says-hello/

Best price will be 249.99.

As for the iPhone, I would only consider it if you meet the following conditions:

1. You primarily read email and do not respond. The keyboard is great for short messages and responses, but anything past sentence or two and it will drive you crazy.
2. You are not currently hooked up an enterprise mail system (direct push/good)

The iPhone cannot be

a. put on a business account (aka: if the account is under a CRU FAN). You need to put it onto an individual account.
b. hooked into exchange (most IT setups aren't going to allow the IMAP4/POP setup that iPhone currently has).

B. may change tomorrow pending what Steve Jobs announces. The rumor out there is that Apple has accessed Microsoft ActiveSync, so with a software update on the iPhone, it may be able to do true Direct Push.

That sucks. I'm on a FAN business account with AT&T.

Well the iPhone is a little too pricey anyways so I'm either getting a Curve or 8820.

The AT&T HTC 8925 looks amazing but no one has a concrete release date and I can't wait more than or week or so longer:

well i tell you im on my second HTC phone (currently have a S710 on AT&T)
and i love it.. i suggest go for it!

the 400mhz processor of the latest models does look promising, however that processing power will rob your battery life.. in one way or another..

with my s710 i can play bubble breaker, send text and receive them. all while listening to mix sets without any major loss of performance..

as i mentioned before.. go 4 it and for get about blackberry..

unless you want to wait for the the curve2 to come out.. even then i still say forget about it.

yeah i have to agree about passing on the blackberrys....i stopped by an ATT store and tried them out and the buttons on the Curve and 8800 were way to small...i prefer the HTC keyboards.

looks like ill grab the S710 since the 8925 doesnt come out for another month or so
