thanks for the advice richg.

I always thought that for producing, its important to get active monitors...but thats not necessarily the case?

in lower priced active monitors the only benefit you get with active is less clutter/wires.

these manufacturers love to say the built in amps are 'optimised for the speakers' but most of the time i would bet this is marketing bollox. as is their power rating figures.

In more "affordable" speakers it pays to go with 6" over *" for a couple of other reasons.

Larger drivers are harder to get right, so while you may get deeper bass extension with the bigger dirver in many cases that comes at the expense of accurucy. KRK RP8s are noticly more boomy and flappy than the 6s.
