make sure it's just the signal strength, first. Move the computer right next to the modem/router. It may still show a weak signal, which means a different problem.

It's definitely a signal problem, it works fine when it's inside, just sucks when I'm out on the deck.

It could be our cordless phone though, I hadn't thought of that.

Ok, so it appears it is our cordless phone interrupting the signal. I've switched off the phone, and now everything seems to be working just fine. Cheers mate
