I am exactly the same way so really appreciate it. Won't provide a link unless you ask but this is a review I posted yesterday on another forum of a mix done by the so called leading lights of the site there .
Listening to this in the car at the moment. Have covered the first 4 tracks so far. Was very bemused by the first track as I thought it was an absolute stinker to start with. Some weak singing female singing all out of key over what was a very average prog background..... The whole song made sense however when the first hint of the next started to roll in. These two songs were certainly made for each other. Great intro mix and certainly took things from zero to elation in a matter of minutes. Track 2 is a solid solid outing. Love the spoken vocal and love those long release haunting pads and bass combos whic is all the fashion these days since the likes of Nathan Fake and James Holden made them fashionable a few years ago. Was very concerned hearing the next mix come in that this one was going to be a flop. It really had no real guts to it and was basically a drum pattern just playing along to the audiofly track. It was on reflection a very clever mix indeed as the bass kicked off right where the audiofly track left off........
Need more time to reflect on the rest of the mix now.
Looking forward to it.
It is with the utmost regret that I wave a white flag on everything from the Bon Jovi track onwards. I enjoyed immensely everything up until that track but most everything afterwards gave me a headache. What a mix of 2 halves. First part was considered , deep and compelling and the rest was a pure cheese fest with 3 note leads and epic breakdowns.
I am too old for the second half folks.
I am sure up for some honest criticism !!
