To be dropping 7 inch records with the middle that big you'd need to be playing tracks older than 30 years. Certainly my mum's vinyl collection which begun being built at the turn of the 70s had the 'modern day' smaller hole at the centre, the same as the vinyl we all play today.

Records used to have a detachable centre also for jukeboxes to be able to handle them easier, so it's possible that some records post 70s had the centres removed, but manually so, rather than being produced and manufactured like this.

So pray tell, Mr Diverse, what tracks are you dropping that warrant the use of this converter??

7inch I don't have a problem with believing, centre removed..... a little more so - unless you're a total potato headed spak muncher who's removed it himself.

yeah +1 i went through my dads all records back when he was in college (lie a couple of million years ago) and none have the centre hole hout

I fit in a lot of the stuff from the 80s in my sets. Back then the 7" was pretty popular for singles and a bit later punk rock remixes; however, I don't think the ones from the punk canon are bound to have big holes.

Usually when I hit up the record store I dig through the 7"s before I dig through the 12"s because they go for about a dollar.

Remember that the 7"s I got were singles and were bound to end up in a jukebox at some point in time.

To be honest with you guys I rarely see a 7" record with a small hole (and I've done a lot of crate digging). 10" sure, but not 7".

it isnt useless because not everyone buying decks is a dj now are they.

ps...many singles in the 80's still had the large holes. I have a 4000+ record collection would you like to argue?

I have an extensive collection in the thousands as well and I stand by what I have said about 7" singles with small holes. The ones I have come across have not been singles.
