Hello All.
I from Brazil, Salvador - Bahia, land of carnival!
Any great city is dangerous, the Rio of January, she is one of the most dangerous of Brazil, but, do not need to exaggerate so much, you can be going to spend his holidays in the Rio, hardly have cuidade, and not between in slums!
In my city it is not so dangerous what a lot of Rio of January, a good city is to visit, but, unfortunately the scene of electronic music is not so strongly what a lot of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro! Clear, the Brazil is not the same as Europe in term of security, but here, be beautiful places to be seen!
Be of use! February is the month of the Carnival here in Salvador - Bahia, and he was seeing the Tiësto is going to touch the carnival. The biggest popular party of the world! Informations on parties in my city:

www.emtursa.ba.gov.br

Here still do not exist a scene Trance, but, fans of the style as I, be try to create a scene Trance!
Excuse my english, is bad, very bad!
Embraces brother!

glass,
Certainly. you'll spend money with hotel, drinks, parties and hot girls, in case you wanting
I would recommend to you Rio carnival and Salvador carnival, you will have fun for sure.
Im tired of carnival, but tourists always have surprises when comes for their first time.
llu Cerq,
Meu caro baiano, relaxa!

Instead of creating a new thread on this subject I thought I would just contribute in this one, which may prove useful to others in the future.
A friend and I are discussing taking a vacation to either Colombia or Brazil this year. Here in the United States we tend to take vacations during our Summer months (late June- late September). Since Brazil is in the southern hemisphere that would make our Summer your Winter. Brazil is so close to the equator that I don't think this would present a problem, but is June-September a good time to take a vacation in Brazil? Should we delay our trip until October-November?
Second, we want to spend a couple of days in Rio; however, we would like to spend the rest of the time in some small, more secluded towns that don't typically get a massive amount of visitors. So what small coastal cities should we visit? And recommendations of places with hot, HOT, women is encouraged!!!
Third, what's the most secure way to travel in Brazil? Brazil is a large country so if I wanted to go from Rio to Salvador my guess is a plane ride would be best. Or are there cheap train rides that go back and forth from those two cities?
We want to spend three weeks down there, so are there any large events or festivals that take place anytime between June-November that we might want to include in our plans?

If you go to northern Brazil, the weather will be good (summer), now Rio does get cold and the more you go to the south, the colder it gets (obviously). So deciding when to come depends on where you want to travael to....
Hot women you ll see in southern Brasil (Florianopolis and surrounding beaches) and here in Rio, specially in Buzios during the summer months.
No trains available down here...you ll need to take a plane, or sit in the bus for 48 hrs to get from Rio do Salvador.
When you say festivals, do you mean EDM related?
Just PM me if you want more specific data...
