I do get kind of a tonal humming when it's dead quiet. It's uniform in both ears though, and I remember having it since I was a teenager, so I don't think it's directly related to DJing or any other sort of ear abuse.

Not really, 90% of the time I'll cue up with both phones on but when I do just use the one ear, I use my right ear which is also the ear I use on the phone etc.
It was something I noticed coming on years ago and I've always had delicate ears anyway (I get chronic pains on planes and I used to get ear infections a lot when I was a kid). Then, about 2 years ago I went to see the Prodigy live and fuck was it loud - and the tinitus has been with me ever since.
