i think i've always spent more money on tunes than on gear. i think i had over 500 cds before i even got my cdjs and mixer in the first place. lately i've not been buying that much new music though as it's been harder and harder to find stuff that i like. and now i've been upgrading my gear. xone:92 rotary wasn't cheap. i also bought a redsound soundbite xl, new sound card, quality balanced wires, etc.
i've spent a shitload of money on gear but i still think that i've spent more on music overall.
anyway, music that matters more than gear.

It really isn't that much and normal to spend more on music than the decks. The decks are only a tool whilst they are useless without the medium (message) aka the music. That being said its a hell of alot of money to spend to sound like absolutely everyone else. Fuck you beatport and juno. <3 secret german places. Seriously everyone downloads the same shit. CDR and Record Delivery > that.

What record collection???

You have a collection of 0's& 1's in not particuarly great quality, on a hard drive which will crash at some point.

Something great to pull out and show the kids/grandkids...
'look kids heres daddys/grandads old music collection . Of course i cant play you any of it, as its incompatible with current formats... but take my word for it, its awesome. I can hum it for you if you like...'

Nearly as hard as I laugh when I hear people talking about music as a "message"

It's just the next level down from talking about a mix "taking you on a journey" or "telling a story"

It's just a bunch of noises that sound cool - deal with it.

Best quote I've heard around here in a long time. Priceless.

I wasn't talking about it in that sense, have you heard of Marshall Macluhan? All media is a message of some sort and is not just restricted to music. Then again i'm sure some DJ knows more than a scholar who helped change the way people viewed all forms of media. Chav like, neat.

as far as story mode, it is not a story per say..but will you argue just dropping tracks vs finding relevant music that fits? I really enjoyed your last mix, but if you just want to drop tracks that have no bearing with the stuff you are playing...i am sorry you are shit.

Lol ok, I'll let you off - I read it as someone trying to be a bit too deep but fair enough, I know what you mean.

Of course you've got to play stuff that fits, my comment wasn't about that but people using over-emotional words to describe these things - it wasn't really intended as a hack at you, I just thought I'd throw it in to show my amusement at the many people on here who tend to get a bit too deep from time to time... but that was all based on my misunderstanding of your previous comment so it makes it all completely irrelevant.

Ah well
