that video/song is over a year old. |
I upset more folks don't know this, especially folks from Toronto. I loved him after his first album. He claimed to never make another album (I can only assume why???...he was mabye a sensative artist) I heard him say this in many interviews.
After he (I assume) overcame his insecurities he dropped a second album, though it did not increase his popularity profile abroad (although people in Canada finally noticed thanks to "crabs in a bucket") it was an AWESOME album that showcased his diversity as an artist. ( the collabo with Sam Roberts was a definate highlight)
Reenergized he released his third album, which released in the states. I don't think it did too well commercially but it doesn't matter.
K-OS can SING, and RAP, and tell a STORY, and that is a triple threat that many commercial artists are not. I always thought he kicked ass, just his 'touchiness' held him back commercially. But if he's fine with that so am I because NON of his songs are diluted.
I'm sure most have heard the remixes of 'sunday morning'.....and finally just to big him up some more, I've read numerous interviews/articles from hip-hop mags that offer critical acclaim to our canadian hip hop talent. Specifically from Wyclef, Jigga and Ghostface. Though it won't mean much.
Kardinall was our original 'breakout' artist and tough he finally got signed to a 'major' US label, I've still not heard any 'official' release.
*Read the inserts of the 'Atlantis album', they are very insightful. Particularly the verses that he mentions he wanted to "RAP" because it was the 'in' thing, while his peers told him to sing because of his beautiful voice.
/end artist whoring
