I can't be bothered to wait in line just to get something before someone else.

Wrong. That's exactly what it means. Common now, count with me. Thats seven more days you have to play the game vs if you had waited to buy it. That's seven more days to get better at the game, for those who are going to play online and keep track of their stats.

I hate to make the comparison, but it could be a like an athelete who gets a peice of equipment before anybody else, and has time do use it, to better their skills.

The nice thing about waiting in line is that companies are now getting into the spirit and giving away free shit. This time M$ gave away a few extra's for the first 15,000 purchases at Futureshop stores (tshirts, headset, keychain), not bad IMO.

That my not be the case with xbox 360, a lot of ppl play the games online and xbox raks you vs other players if a good player has a week head start on other people some player may never catch up.

The point is, people need to stop thinking about video games, as just being for kids, or nerdy older guys.

Its escapism plain and simple, and it may be the most advanced form yet. It may also be the 3rd largest (industry worth) form of, behind sports and drugs. The video game industry and surpased the movie industry.

For the record, I could care less about playing Halo3, as I hate those types of games. Give me an old mario game any day. I just think people need to shift their way of thinking about the industry, or the people who get involved.

Read a book, go for a run, play with your nephew, take your girl out.

All are just as acceptable and can be equally as fun and a good way to spend your time as a video game.

I dont even play videogames, and I read a massive amount of fantasy series continually through the year (one a month maybe?), and other select fiction writers (Michael Crichton, John Lescroat, John Grisham, John Case, etc), but even I can see that reading a book isnt always going to compare or beat the experience of playing some of the sick looking games coming out today.

I often wish I enjoyed playing video games, because I see the way some ppl can love them, and feel like there's just something Im not understand about the appeal ,that I wish I did.

Games like World or Warcraft of Guild Wars are kickass, and the graphics, worlds, characters created in them are brilliant and vibrant and awesome. They're like books come ot life and you actively interactively can control them.

No longer must one be forced to dream and imagine in their heads such worlds, they can actually play in them.

Fantastic.

I like video games as much as the next geek, but at least I have the self discipline to wait a few days before getting a game...

I just don't see the point of waiting in line for hours or days for a game. It's not like the world will collapse if you don't get the game on the first day

Seems a lot of people have weird sense of priority
