I read that over 60% of the people that downloaded it chose to pay nothing....

Some 62 percent of the people who downloaded "In Rainbows" in a four-week period last month opted not to pay the British alt-rockers a cent. But the remaining 38 percent voluntarily paid an average of $6, according to the study by comScore Inc.
Between Oct. 1 and Oct. 29, about 1.2 million people visited the Web site the band set up for fans to download the album, comScore said Monday. The research firm did not say how many people in its study actually bought/downloaded the album.

Aha but that percentage means nothing without other information such as....
Number of albums sold last time
Number of downloads this time and therefore number of 'paid for' dls
Amount paid by dlers
And then, after christmas, number of boxed set sales
I would be really interested to know the numbers

When they were with the label...
Chris Castle, a long-time music attorney and record executive, offered an educated guess about what the British band was earning at EMI. He figures that in every year a Radiohead album was released, it was EMI's top-selling record. The band likely negotiated a larger royalty rate than most performers earn.
He guessed that when royalties were combined with money earned from publishing, Radiohead saw between $3 and $5 for every album sale.
Castle also estimates that the band typically sold between 3 and 4 million units worldwide. That would mean Radiohead hauled in between $9 million and $20 million per album.
