Source? The amount of good reviews and hype around it was nothing less than staggering in my book...
Nielson soundscan.
I own the debut LP, but to me after three or so plays it was pretty forgettable. I probably own one of 300 or so copies that were sold in the US. I will definitely get the sophmore attempt.

It only compiles sales charts for the US and Canada as far as I can see, so if that's your source I'm not surprised that the figures are low. Doesn't mean that the album hasn't sold well though.

Looks like they took half of the samples down.

Sounds amazing so far, I absolutely loved his debut album, a great take on the halcyon days of one of my favorite genres of music (2-step).

Kode9 did a preview mix of the new album and other unreleased Burial tunes on the Mary Anne Hobbs show this week. It's up on The Mixing Bowl.
Anyway, everyone knows I'm a Burial whore... so I guess it's redundant to say I'm looking forward to the album.
P.S. Keep your eyes peeled for a new Burial 12" in Feb 2008... Tracks: Stairwell / Feral Witchchild

Sounded good from the preview indeed. The rave/garage influences are more prominent this time, and the tunes aren't as low key overall as on Burial. He still knows how to use vocal samples sparsely to great effect as well.
Still pissed that Gaslight isn't on there though.

That tune in the last couple of minutes of the mix... I think the vocal sample is "I told you" (will have to go back and check). The one with the badass bassline and sinister soundsystem samples... pure skankage.
Seems it won't be on the album though.

I listened to the mixed preview for the first time today and Archangel literally brought me to tears. The vocal is so fucking unbelievably amazing. Out of this world.
