I think the VJing products are being geared towards Top40/Urban DJs at the moment. There isn't much video material available for our genres, but there are now Promo Only DVDs with all of the latest music videos on them, etc. for the Top40 jock to work with. Once we get a good pool of high-quality Dance video DVDs then we should see more people trying VJing.
While doing a prom last year, the Top40 DJ I was helping out had a 'ghetto' VJ setup. Basically there were two normal home DVD players, a couple of video boxes that sent the signal to his DJM600 and his preview screens, and a preview screen/video switcher that we used to see the next video. The video switcher had some of the effects that this unit is boasting, such as wipe, swirl, etc. so that switching between the music videos wasn't abrupt.
This setup was a pain in the a$$ to work with! Because the Top40 guy needed to do the camera work for the prom video, he left me manage the video system. I had to 'cue' up the video that I wanted (which meant finding the Promo Only sleeve, then manually pressing 'skip track' until I got to the DVD track number. No DVD menus here!), then making sure everything is OK on this 5" B&W monitor, then setting up the effects, then figuring out how to blend/fade the two tracks musically, then switching tracks through the mixer's faders AND the video switcher at the same time! There was a lot to do but the setup did work (and all of the 'ghetto' setup gear combined costed less than one DVJ)
