Why the hell do DJ's find it necessary to drop 'sandstorm' during every set?
Sounded like it didnt go badly at all, you'll easily get invited back.

I really like Iowa. My Dad owns some property out there on the river and I was out there this past weekend. Maybe not the best nightlife or whatever, but it's just nice to get away sometimes. Some nice areas out there.

I find they work, just differently.
I've been making a lot of friends and getting a lot of people interested in what I have to offer musically, but after giving out a couple of demos and then getting them properly printed out I think its really brought me closer to those people and others I would have never reached out to
I don't know if it will get me any gigs directly, but thats not the point. It's about getting into other peoples ears, invading their stereo & making them dance...

I agree. I haven't made a demo in years. I got hired at Vanguard because it's the same promoters I've been playing for the last year.

Because some people *COUGH* Ted Promo *COUGH* keep requesting it
koolaide: That's cool that you are able to take over Des Moines like that. I've been making demos and doing the whole contacts thing in ATL, but getting gigs here has proven to be harder than in Hickory. Like others have said, its who you know that really helps to land the gig. The demo is there to remind club owners/promoters that you exist ('What's this stack of CDs doing in my car? PVD, Moby, DJ Funktion? Oh yeah, that guy...[I forgot to call him back]!"
