HOOHA USSR Junkie...Athiests unite!
--
These is the truth...
1) "Believing in a God" is worthless unless you know what you are believing in. Religion provides this; an understanding for God. Therefore, in order to believe in a God, you must do one of two things.
A. Choose a religion.
B. Think of a understanding of God yourself, and claiming that you either had a divine enlightenment, or are an extremely lucky guesser.
2) If you choose a religion, you must go with it all the way. All major religions are contradictory to science, therefore you can't be half-into it. (If you really believe there is a heaven, why not live the holiest life possible? If I TRUELY thought there was a heaven, I'd do whatever i could to get there)
3) Just because a divine being created the universe doesn't mean he gives a rats ass about us. The way we are so insignificant in terms of size and placement in the universe sure looks that way. (unless you are a Creationist and believe that God made the universe this way to trick nonbelievers) We are a speck to a speck to a speck, inhabiting a microscopic portion of time in the universe's life. It sure doesn't look like the universe was created for us.

well, that is not entirely true.. Religion and Science are not opposites. I don't get why people do not understand it. They are complimentary. |
no, they are not. at least Christianity is not.
Science says the universe was created billions of years ago, way before the Earth was.
Christianity says clearly that the universe was created 10 or so thousands of years ago, and that the universe was created for the Earth, and at the same time as the Earth.
Science says the Universe's fate is that everything drifts away, everything will get farther apart, and never really end because everything will just get farther and farther apart. This is the prodominent theory, another theory is a Big Crunch, the opposite of the Big Bang.
Christianity CLEARLY states that the Universe, with the Earth, will end with the Apocolypse, a complex arrangement involving Jesus coming back to Earth.
That is the Old AND New Testement CLEARLY contradicting with Science. In Science, there are no 'miracles', things are based on laws and cause and effect.
In Religion, everything is in the hands of God, and everything has a divine purpose that only he truely understands.
THE TWO ARE NOT ALIKE!!!

In that case,i don't understand what your first post was all about. U said, "The reason i slammed you in the first place is coz u said that, which is about as much use as a fart in a space suit!"
If u knew it was a joke, what didn't u like in my post then?
U are contradicting yourself.

Sorry but thats what you wrote |
No, that's how U understand it. I said earlier that everything can be explained logically. In my previous post, i just stated that sometimes we need more time to find a logical explonation.. that's it!
I believe in the power of science and mind, that's why i believe in logic... but science and religion are almost opposite things - that's why i totally ignore it

I specialized in biology in University, and studied a lot of Evolutionary Science and Anthropology. The reason why everything is in 'Perfect Balance' is because of Natural selection/survival of the fittest. Essentially, if an organism was out of balance with its environment, it would die... fast. So in the past 3 billion years, starting from primitive cells, things have evolved into multi-cellular organisms that are in balance with their surroundings (which include other organisms).
When the environment changes, which it does often, an imbalance is created, and some organisms have an advantage over others (ie dinosaurs when the comet struck could not survive, but other organisms [mammals] could, because they could sustain the colder environments).
Whether or not it was all started by a 'Higher Being', I dont know. It very well could have. I was raised Catholic, and beleived in God for a long time. Now, Im not entirely sure. But I do beleive in the possibity that a God could exist. Essentially, because I beleive in science, and science states that nothing is fact until it can be proven and tested, I beleive in the possibilty that God exists, only because nobody has proven that God doesnt exist.

if the universe will not expand forever.. which is quite possible from my knowledge of science, it will eventually collapse again. Assuming that humanity is still 'alive' then, we will eventually get sucked into some sun/ black hole... A religious person calls that apocalypse, you call it 'end of the world' same thing..
you still have the problem that you take the bibler LITERALLY.. it is not intended to be done. The bible is not a scientific book. it is a book full of analogies to help us understand life and to give us ideas how to go about living. It is full of analogies and similes (from my dictionary for i do not know that word in english).. you read it, you think about it.. you understand what it means..
I understand your situation though, there are PARTS (read it, not the whole, parts) that might stand in contradition to science, but that is mostly irrelevant.
