I have 800's. 800's are fine for bedroom DJing and to cut out your skills.

They are also sufficiently close enough to 1000s that you can make the transition easily.

You can always upgrade later if you feel the need.

I can afford 1000s, but I simply cant justify the extra cost to myself (and I've tried). Ive never used the wave display feature on any 1000s I've used and I've spent so many years mixing on CD players with 0.1% pitch resolution that its just not an issue for me.

I can only speak for myself, but I wouldn't trade the 0.02 % pitch and the wave display for anything. If you can afford the 1000's get them. I still give them a good night kiss every night.

imo...i'd rather be content with a piece of gear rather than buying it thinking it'll be a good investment when it isnt...im kinda in the same situation with my cdj800...dont know whether to keep it or sell it since im extremely content with my techs and torq. thought it wouldve been a good buy but now im somewhat regretting spending that cash for something i use so little of

Another option... combine CDJ-800MK2's with a DVS. Still cheaper than 2 CDJ-1000's, and you'll gain even more features... wave display in the software, hot cues, better looping, etc.

That's if you have a laptop or something near your decks, but it's certainly something to consider...

To answer the original question in the thread title: YES

Save your money on the 800s and put it toward a kick ass mixer. Or go the DVS route like Ryan said.
