i buy tracks just cause i like them , even though i will never play them.i hate when they give u a sample of something and then u buy it and there is some gay ass vocal or some cheezed out build up. beatport gets me all the time.now i listen to it then right it down. i wait till i get a few tracks on my list and go back and listen to it again before buying it. usually the next day or two unless i need some tracks fast.

Yeah, unfortunately this is a result of the sites only being able to supply short clips, although even after hearing the whole track I've ended up changing my mind about tracks straight after I've bought them.

Quite often cheesy vocals etc can be worked around by a bit of editing, but then it's a matter of finding time to do that!


I suppose with time you do get better at anticipating what a track will be like from the clip - it's pretty rare that I buy dud tracks these days, but it still happens every couple of months.

I used to do this all the time a while back, but now I've developed a better sense of what will have shelf-life and what won't.

As mentioned above, the short samples can screw you if you aren't careful...

i use every track i have in one way or another...its called editing. i also play a lot of different styles so i play all that i buy.

before cdjs existed i had stuff i never played but not now.
