you can pick up used technics 1200 mk2's as low as $250 on ebay if you search.. i wouldn't bother with those others mentioned above, because you'll end up wanting to upgrade sooner than you think.

seeing that you've been into dj'ing for couple years and is looking to buy new gear, i take it that you really enjoy it.
if you take dj'ing seriously, whether for gigs or even bedroom hobby, i advise that you pick-up better equipment that will last you.

What's the difference between the Stanton T80's brand new and Technics 1200 mk2's? Probably a dumb question, but i havn't owned technics before and want to know as much as possible before i buy anything.

Also, i have been looking at a mixer. It's the Behringer VMX300 for about £119. I've seen tons of good reviews about it. What do you think of it?

I brought a VMX300 about 4 years ago. I stays in a dusty and damp environment, it's never covered. I took it out to our place in France about 2 years ago. It performs just as well as it did when i first brought it - although as i understand this is not the norm - most of the time they give up.

Buy a 1210 thats 20 years old and it'll perform as well as a 1210 that you brought last year. These things are bullet proof.

Id say 1210's are a good bet as although you'll pay more for them (even second hand), you will get most of your money back if you ever decide to sell it on, so it probably works out cheaper in the long run. Plus i understand they are easier to fix if they ever do go wrong, and you should be ble to get replacement parts easier.

And also, if you ever plan to play out, most clubs will have techs so you will be more familiar with them.

Even though the torque might be a little different, isn't the Stanton's basically the same feel as the Technics, just a little "cheaper" perhaps?

dont waste your money on cheap dj packages unless its just to mess around with mates, but if your serious take a look at some used technics 1200SL they should be pretty cheap on e-bay

i wouldn't buy this. i've had the st-60s and they are not good and i have not heard anything good about behringer mixers.
