So lasering the crowd is illegal? Is this recent? I was at the Roger Waters show at the bowl this spring and they had a few lasers that swept the crowd. (A huge line of lasers in a rainbow pattern sweeping the crowd during "Any Colour You Like"... blew my mind.) |
In the US this is very illegal. Fines are so strict they could permanently shut a club down although I have seen it done in the US. All this according to 21 CFR §1040.10 and §1040.11 plus many more.
However, you want to be blown away by a laser show, The Netherlands loves em and doesnt give a damned about crowd scanning

Why are they banned, I mean, can they really ruin your eyes if they only are there for like .1 seconds? I can't say I've sat and stared into one, but lasers are just amazing, great thread.
is there any movement to get that repealed? I want scanning. |
Like most things here, things get outlawed before any real studies are done. The law has been in place for quite sometime 30 years or so, its not going to be repealed, trust me. Lasers are indeed very dangerous. Make no mistake, I am partially blind in my left eye because of a milisecond of a laser beam being in my eye. That laser that did that was very bright though.
And fellow TAs, dont think i am pissing on the parade. I love lasers, its what I do (see my sig). I was just pointing out that you wont see too many shows like that in the US, if you do, its not legal so enjoy it if u see it.
