Bump.
Ok, just purchased a Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM lens.
Can't wait
Coming from the US though, so I have to wait like a week or so

Dude, you oughta buy a tripod first. I personally think your lens are pretty good but in case if you are getting an USM IS lens it's not a bad thing either, but still tripod is a necessity though a better lens is a luxury.
You also might want to look at monopods as an option.
Scott has been introduced to the rave scene, and Ecstasy, by Craig. The two of them go out on the weekends, with some of Craigs friends, and stay up all night, dancing in a drug-fueled trance.

Yeah, I'm getting a tripod in a couple of weeks, I just really wanted to get the IS lens sorted for now.

I am a Canon EOS D60 Owner (a tad bit older) and have a Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 (with a 1.5 crop it is equivalent to a 42-450mm)
I have to say that some of the higher end sigma lenses are wonderful. Sharp details, no ghosting and quick use of the AF when needed.
You got a nice lens... but it is like preaching to the choir about the tripod. If you had a lower 1.xx or 2.xx f stop... a tripod would be less necessary. Best of luck.

Yeah, the sigma stuff really does have a good name.
I wish I could afford the low f-stop lenses, but I didn't want to spend that much money just now. Happy with what I'm getting though

funny thing is, i was gonna make a thread about photography but asking advice on shooting techniques, what things to use, macros, light adjusting etc to get certain shots. You know like the cool ones where traffic is moving in a line and it looks mint, how to properly use flash & other features or how to get great laser shots that don't look silly. I'll post some examples if needed of what I currently get if anyone can help. I'm using a sony cybershot 5.1mp jobby with 3x optical zoom & wanna get the most out of it.

Night street shots are longer exposures with a higher (f22+) f-stop. Less light is let in so the image is not a white wash. Ill explain more later.
