Airplane, Princess Bride, the first two Naked Gun movies, Ace Ventura, A Night at the Roxbury, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spaceballs, Tommy Boy, Caddy Shack, any of the old National Lampoon movies - those were comedies. If they had plots, it was only to stitch together the various gags.
Superbad is what I'd call a teen movie, technically not even the same genre. I always thought Knocked Up was a "romantic comedy", like "Miss Congeniality" or "Runaway Bride" - that genre has always been total garbage, and not much has changed aside from it being a little raunchier than it was 10 years ago.
I can't honestly remember any seeing any movie in the past 5 years that was really funny. But then, I can't really remember seeing any movie during that time that I would even place in the pure comedy/satire genre. Maybe some of the stoner movies like Harold and Kumar.
