You dont even have to press them up onto vinyl either. goto local clubs and had the dj's and residents a cd of your tune.

Most dj's are not bothered about cd's + the ones that know, know that is is vrtually guarenteed. Picotto + pvd say they pay alot of their tunes off cd, becuase they know a producers can rip a cd and have them ready to hand out in the night.

Its only amatuers and those who dont have producer contacts that get funny over cd's.

1. Send promo cds out, along with a short bio and picture. make sure everything has fancy lables and looks professional so they get a good impression. most small lables DO LISTEN to unsolicited demos. when I say small lables, Im talking about most trance lables (they are small in comparison to huge lables like sony etc.) For example, Lighting Records, Positiva, Tidy, Unsubmissive, Kinetic, Vandit and a pile more. do a little research on each lable you send to, as in make sure they produce ur style of music. Alot of these labels are a little hard to find a&r addresses but they're around. include about 3 - 5 tracks on ur demo. not too many, or they wont listen to them all, not too little or you have less of a chance of them liking one of your tracks. In the summer I'm gonna be sending out about 20 demos to lables across europe, with 3 or 4 songs each.

2. Make sure u have a crazy track that stands out, and is professionally produced. I mean, listen to your track and compare it to a released track. make absolutely sure ur track is as good in physical sound quality and mastering and stuff. if not dont even bother.

3. Send out to any clubs, or DJs you know.

4. Big radio stations. I emailed a guy around here at a station about playing unsigned music, and he said sure send it in and if its good he'll play it. This is crazy it gets the local people wanting to hear the track in clubs. Once it gets big in ur local clubs the lables should come flocking.

5. If you got like $1500 CND press 500 records and distribute them to record shops as whitelables. send a few out to big local DJs. sell some on the net (like this forum). when people start liking the tracks, record lables will find out its an unreleased white lable, and will come to you.

there's my advice, now I just got to follow it

for becoming a big name DJ all I can suggest is making a crazy set, burn it on CD, and send to all the local clubs. Hopefully one will pick you up, and you can start there. Then once your name gets around (if you're really good) then you can keep on moving up

Chrono, what radio station? There are radio stations that play good music in Toronto?

I emailed the Hammer from z103.. I know, they play more dance and euro trance, but I have heard some serious tracks on their station. Other than that station, there are no other stations that play ANY trane at all.

thanks, I've done a ton of reading up on it, and talked to alot of people. I've had my tracks on some radio station in Sacramento California at like 2 AM lol.. I actually downloaded the radio show, it was an AMAZING feeling hearing your name announced, and ur track being played over the airwaves. To tell you the truth, I didnt even send my tracks into any radio station yet (that one the guy found my tracks, and e-mailed me about it). As soon as this next promo CD is done, I'll be sure to get it out all over the place.

Exclamation YO! CHECK THIS OUT!

To all the *new* producers reading this . . . send me a Private Message (PM) and we'll see if we can work out something with your demo/tracks!

Also . . . other DJ/Artists, for a *limited* time only, I will open up my office to *solicit* demos from each of you on here at TA. I'm adding this info on this thread instead of creating my own for a reason. ...and I'm not going to tell you some of the people I work with/for or am connected to, because I don't need to have my box overflowed, so don't ask! ...but feel free to send me a PM and we'll see what we can do for you.

peace

Chrono, if you want, I can talk to someone from z103 and see if they'll play one of your songs. My promotion company is doing an event at Atlantis Night Club on Saturday May 25th called Mayhem... it's a z103 concert, so Tony Monaco and other important z103 people will be there. If you have any songs you think are ready (and preferably a little bit on the eurotrance cheesier side), I'll give one of them a cd.

hey Michael Russo, that would be really great.. I've got one track that I think would fit nicely in the Z103.5 style of trance that they play. PM me so I can figure out how to get you the CD.

and The_Groove, this is hillarious! You are the guy that played my track on your radio station. Germ and DJ Groove .. lol.
