By the way Direct Connect is, imho, the best file sharing app. known to man!
It was created by a guy called Jon Hess, and works in a similar way to the Hotline file sharing program. People like you (and me obviously), can set up a hub (like a room with comfy chairs)which other users can log onto (walk into), and stay and share all their files (sit down and exchange presents).
It has a very communal (not communist ) feel to it, and the more you give, the more you get (because if everyone shares more, there will be more choice). You can view individual users files, search the whole hub (or multi-hub if it is enabled), Chat, public or private, and lot's more

Just thought you would like to know a bit about the thing before you went diving head first in to the action!

the time has come for me to set up a bot on my hub
as a result, if you have been on my hub today you may have been kicked by the archotbot for no good reason! this is because i am trying to configure the bot to work how i want it to, but it seems intent on stoping me!
this may continue for a day or so, but if you get kicked just try to reconnect after 3 minutes
once this bot is up the hub will be a better place, knowing that fake sharing, leeching, and generally insociable asshole's, are benned

current rules to protect us from horrible people...and germans (lol - joke, only kidding, don't kill me):

.: Rules:

1. Do, Share at least one live mix, and a minimum of 200MB
2. Do, Have atleast 3 slots open at all times (dsl+)
3. Do, use sensible names...and no explicit words either!
4. Do NOT, share porn please!
5. Do NOT, be in more than 3 hubs at once [DC++ users]
6. Respect other users, treat them as you would also like to be treated
7. If you break these rules 3 times, you will be banned!!
8. ..and the main thing: HAVE FUN

these may change, but i assure you that they will not be any more harsh they will remain easy to obtain.
the archos bot also offers many other features to users, like away messages, date, time, vip users [slightly less than op's], but remember just because someone is an op they are not necisarilly better than you!
so come and check out the hub if you have not already

hey man how come sometimes it tells me ip banned it gets frustrating sometimes.i disconnect for a second and try to reconnect ip banned whats the deal.

hmmm, i think the bot has some kind of bug in the min share script
i have turned it off 4 now, you should be able to get in and not get banned now

actually , just been told it is a DC bug (by the guy who wrote archos - so he knows what he is on about).
it aparently is a fault of DC, that it sometimes does not send complete information to the bot on connect, so archos does not recognise your share, and kicks your ass
i think maybe dc++ [ http://sourceforge.net/projects/dcplusplus/ ]
may work, give it a try and give me feedback on
