NICK DEM Q DJ PROFILE
www.myspace.com/nickdemq
Nick Dem Q began DJing in the mid 1990's and within this short period of time he has built a reputation within the dance music industry both within Australia and on an international level. He is regarded by most of his peers as one of Australia's finest DJs. His development now concentrates on his studo productions. Bamboo Music was formed with fellow DJ/producer Hess. Nick deals with all A&R and creative director responsibilities and is also co owner of the label. The label has currently produced over 25 releases with a further 6 due in 2006.
Nick's first release 'Bomba' on Bamboo received worldwide exposure by a diversity of artists including Murray Richardson, Saeed and Palash and Trendroid. It was also featured on X-press 2's April mix CD and received rave reviews in UK's ''7' and 'DJ' magazine. His next release 'Write On' will be featured on the new mixed compilation by Saeed and Palash - TIDE EDIT 07 which is being distributed worldwide by Intergroove. It's the next release in the acclaimed series which have included: Steve Lawler - Dark Drums, Peace Division - Peace Process and Lee Burriage - Metropolis. His tracks have featured on many complitations.
Two years on and Nick Dem Q’s unique tech-house sounds have continued to carve a loyal following from both DJs and dance floors alike. Having toured most of the key cities of the Asian Pacific region, including sell-out club dates at Park97 in Shanghi, The Club in Bejing and super club Zouk in Singapore, it is not just Demq’s production work, but also his headlining sexy tribal house sets that have helped raise his profile as a pioneer of this often under-represented, but always killer sound.
Created upon the foundations of accessibility, Dem Q continues to have the unique ability to create music that is written for the dance floor, yet never compromises the integrity of the sound. Ever soulful, Dem Q is a now recognised as a producer capable of humanising electronic beats, using an undefinable – almost rhetorical method of production, which somehow layers up a pared-back sound. The breadth and calibre of artist’s now deploying his tracks on compilation albums from all over the world, coupled with a #4 spot on the ARIA club chart, not too mention an already acclaimed debut album, stand as testimony to this man’s rare talent. In recent times Nick has completed remixes for Blockhead Recordings US and formed a strong bond with Spanish label Surburban Tracks. Nick sound has developed from the depth of tribal drums and textured beats to driving electro inspired house.

What a rocking night!
MUSIC WAS ABSOFKNLUTELY ROCKING!
All djs played exceptionally well, but Tek-ku (whose set ROCKED & I shall try upload it as soon as I can), Nick Dem Q & Katie Drover stood out to me the most!
WOW that was THE BEST set I have ever heard Katie play. She really knows her music & was ever so grateful to be able to play music SHE WANTS & CAN play! Was very deep indeed! She rocked!
Nick Dem Q = ABSOLUTE LEGEND, had the crowd screaming with joy with his deep & dark dirty beats. He is such a good dj!
Chris, Ben & Sam ROCKED as always
Really happy that the first ~ Diabolique ~ had an all star lineup with some of my favourite locals! Even if I had nothing to do with this night and saw this lineup I would have went in a heartbeat!
A BIG THANK YOU for all those who braved the weather and came down, turned out to be a crazy night and the atmosphere was awesome. Everyone on the dancefloor certainly looked as though they were enjoying themselves! I know I did!
Met a fair few new friendly faces
Didi you ROCK, had such a laugh, glad you had a good time.
Pics should be up soon..........
Our next installment of ~ Diabolique ~ will be 19.1.08........full lineup to be released soon!
Our main emphasis for the whole purpose of this night was to put on an array of some of Melbourne's best who can play between the prog/tech/tribal genres.....deep, dark & dirty sounds that are not heard in many Melbourne clubs and no Nova FM cheese fest either.
I had so much fun, I didn't want it to end.
Cant wait for the next one already!!!!!
BRING THE DRUMS BACK
Not to worry Deeman You gutta get better intime for New Years! I cant wait for Apollo, haven't heard proper trance in ages.
And thanks again for the support
