I don't like fixed portamento/glide because sometimes u don't need a transition between a note to other note glided...

In the second note (B1) to the third note (B2), I don't play B2, I play A2 and glide it to B2 using the pitch bend wheel/joystick..

An LFO on a filter can have a similar effect as well, without changing the frequency of the fundamental so it wont detune everything...
