To be considered for producer of the year there needs to be a balance between quality and quantity. Deadmau5 has spread himself far to thin, I'm sorry.

He is a lock for "Most Prolific" or "coolest mouse logo" of the year though.

Deadmau5 gained quite a great amount of popularity in such a short time this year because of Faxing Berlin and some other tunes, but I wouldn't go THAT far and say he was the producer of the year. Lots of good suggestions from previous posters btw.

Perhaps when it comes to quantity of productions, but certainly not quality. Deadmau5 has some tracks I really, really enjoy, but far more that I just find mediocre - they're great tracks for the dancefloor, but I just can't seem to get into many of them (particularly the farty house tunes).

I can probably agree with this.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Also, Duderstadt, Simon patterson, Dogzilla, Manuel le Saux, Marcel Woods, Alex M.O.R.P.H and Kyau vs. Albert have has a good year.

But for the win, I am going to have to say Breakfast. He's gone from nowhere to producing top quality tunes in no time, and he's not even 20 yet I don't think.

I think Gui Boratto was my favourite producer this year personally.

I can't really connect with most of his stuff, but his remix of Roadkill is fuckin' amazing!

I really enjoyed Faxing Berlin, Jaded, Arguru, and Not Exactly. The rest, while not bad are quite average. He's young and very talended IMO, give him some time, he's up for bigger things

Guy Gerber takes the crown this year for both his productions and remixes. The guy is outstanding and surprises me with his sound in each and every one of his releases.

I definitely agree with the OP here, at least in the non Hip Hop EDM scene. While some people may not like his songs, he has really come from nowhere to being played fucking everywhere. At one point he had something like 5 songs in beatports top 10 weekly downloads. No producer has had similar success this year as far as widespread play goes.

If you include hip hop, then it's been timbaland for a couple of years now.
