HD 280s are DJ headphones, not studio monitors. Even the high-end Sennheiser headphones are "audiophile" types, not reference monitors. That Sony model is sort of in between, being decent but not great for a variety of applications.
Reference headphones are something like the Beyerdynamic DT100 or DT770 (which I hate), or the AKG K271 or K240. You would not want to DJ with those. They reveal all of the high frequencies and don't do anything to clean up the sound, so your ears would be bleeding after several hours of constant playback. Something like the Sennheiser HD 600 would give similar results, but not as harsh on the highs, which makes them better for casual listening but not as good for production.
