Producing with fruityloops is like doing a magazine cover with MS PAINT instead of photoshop. It can be done, although it shouldn't be

I'm sorry, but that's utter nonsense (and I'm not a frequent FL user).

I love to have logic but it looks so damn complicated. I wouldn't even know where to start.

FL is crap because it is cheap and therefore used by a larger margin of people who contain a higher yield of incompetence. FL sucks because of the placebo effect when a bunch of people who don't know how to produce gather in a circle and start yacking about tools instead of actually producing.

Well... if FLStudio is good enough for Kopi, Cybernetica, Ronald Jenkees and Leonard Nimoy then it's good enough for me.

Logic is really not any more complicated than any other DAW software, it just may work differently than another piece of DAW software you may be used to. I was a Cubase user for 10 years, and I have picked up Logic quite easily and I have only had it for about a month. Sure, some things are different, but its pretty easy to just look something up in the manual if I need help. Any software is easy to learn if you have the desire and are willing to put in the work.

These are the DAWs I know, how long I have used them, and why they are shit.

Sonar (2 weeks) - REALLY crap user interface
Cubase (3 years) - Buggy, crap user interface
Reaper (1 year) - Buggy
Ableton (3 weeks) - High CPU use, weak audio tools
FL (3 years) - Crap multicore support, weak audio tools
Reason (6 months) - No VST/audio

With the exception of reason (because it can't do alot of audio stuff), all the others are as good as eachother. Just stfu and get over it, they all have problems.

xxonemanriotxx, I wouldn't listen to CatalystG5. He's a prime example of a noob following the trail of ignorant elitism. I can guarantee you for every thing he says Logic has that FL doesn't, I can name an even more important feature Logic doesn't have.

Yeah, yeah... I suppose the secret to your music is using incredulous amounts of liquify filter.

Give me a break... a bad analogy is like a leaky screwdriver.

obviously you havnt read my post. I once was a fruity loops user, and i didnt just jump into logic and spend $1000 on a DAW that is inferiour to something thats selling for $200. I have used the both for long periods of time, and i would never go back to fruity. I cant say much about Cubase etc. because i havent used them.

I believe you get what you pay for.
Oh and tell me something, do you use mspaint?

Thats true, there are probably a few things that you might miss if you were to start using Logic. A couple of examples are: Logic currently does not have "elastic audio" in the same sense that almost every other major DAW has, and more importantly logic did not even have sample-accurate audio editing until version 8. Logic has always been a bit behind the other DAWs in terms of audio editing features. Thats one of the reasons you see a lot of producers running a Logic/Pro Tools combo. They like to compose in logic and edit in ProTools.

There are tons of long time Logic users who are saying they will stick with 7 because the workflow has changed fairly dramatically in Logic 8. Don't get me wrong, its not like Logic 8 doesnt have all the features that Logic 7 had, its just they are implemented differently and many, many things have been changed in both the UI as well as the way the software works. This is not a bad thing, its just different and some people don't like it.

You should see all the people bitching up a storm on the Logic forums...

I use Fruityloops as a VSTi in Sonar 7.

Percussion is programmed, sequenced and mixed in FL while all the synths and other parts are hosted and sequenced in Sonar (which has better MIDI editing)

it works great, since FL's strength really is pattern programming, and Sonar's strength is mixing, automation, and MIDI editing.
